CFTS Ltd

Information

CFTS is the national accreditation scheme for Thorough Examinations — a legal requirement to ensure that all critical parts of lifting equipment are in safe working order.

Since 2004, CFTS has been helping companies across the UK comply with regulations governing both lifting and driving mechanisms under LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) and PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations).

Our quality-controlled Thorough Examination procedure includes up to five times the number of checks compared to other inspection providers — saving employers time, money, and frustration.

The CFTS mark is your guarantee that your truck will be examined carefully, with key components such as brakes and steering (PUWER) checked alongside the lifting mechanism (LOLER). Only CFTS-accredited companies and Competent Persons that have committed to adhering to the strict Quality Assurance Procedural Code are allowed to use this mark.

There are currently more than 3,000 Competent Persons across the UK and Ireland who take pride in carrying out their work with total integrity and confidence in conducting a safe, fair, and legal Thorough Examination.

Competent Persons must have the appropriate experience and training to carry out a Thorough Examination. They require at least five years’ experience servicing and maintaining lifting equipment and undergo regular training and strict checks to ensure their competence and independence.
